Whilst the Giro d’Italia is in full swing, the UEC (European Cycling Union) and the A.S.D Silvellese have signed in Trento the agreement for the organization of the 2019 Cyclo-cross European Championships – returning to Italy after eight years – to be held in Silvelle di Trebaseleghe (Padua) on 9th and 10th November 2019.
“Silvelle and the Veneto Region represent the cradle of the Italian cyclocross and we are sure that such a skillful organizational team guarantees excellence. A great event is coming, which will attract thousands of people from all over Europe“, the European Cycling Union President Rocco Cattaneo said.
“We are looking forward to this new great adventure – “Silvelle ‘19” Technical Director Mauro Zamprogna explained – which will bring a high-class CX event back to Veneto. Despite the date being still one year and a half away, the atmosphere of the great event is deeply felt: we’ll do our best to keep the prestige and the tradition of Silvelle on top“.
“Silvelle ’19” organizing committee also unveiled the official logo of the event. Designed by Jonny Mole, the symbol aims at focusing in a single stylized graphic composition the close relationship between the territory, its features and offroad cycling.
This is why recognizable forms have been used, such as the yellow stars of the European flag, the CX rider in the typical position of the jump of the obstacle and the Treviso’s radicchio, one of the peculiarities of local gastronomy. The stars, arranged in perspective, follow an ellipse that is strengthened and completed thanks to the stylized leaves with the typical ribs of the Treviso’ chicory. Into the logo appears the athlete, drawn with strong lines, thus representing the soul of the people of Treviso. The colors used are blue and yellow from the European flag and the intense radicchio’s red.
“The logo we have chosen perfectly summarizes the character of the event – added Zamprogna. – The European Championships are certainly an event of great appeal, yet at the same time we intend to enhance the relationship with the territory, which has always been one of the keys to our success“.
